Results of the year of charity in Nigeria

Due to the critical issue of educating Nigeria's population, we decided to focus on local problems. In partnership with the Keeping It Real Foundation, we sponsored two projects during the year that focused on strengthening the information and communication technology (ICT) ecosystem and combating illiteracy.

The first project is Youth Employability Skills, or simply YES. Fifty young people received much-needed training in ICT. There were unemployed or underemployed young people, aged eighteen to thirty-five, who didn't finish school. Out of fifty students, nine had disabilities, which reflected the disability-inclusive nature of the project.

All trainees went through basic courses that included entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and soft skills training. Apart from that, they could choose the following additional courses: web development, cybersecurity, graphic design (UI/UX), photography/cinematography, and data analytics. A day before the end of the YES project, Ambrose Ebuka, our representative, held a workshop on investments directed at the trainees. During the workshop, he told them about various investment opportunities and gave practical advice on how to start investing in the financial markets.

Another initiative, which has become a regular project, included setting up eight reading corners, each consisting of 150 books and a bookshelf, in the following states: Katsina, Kebbi, Osun, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Edo, Lagos, and Rivers.

Musa Yar'Adua primary school was one of the project's objects in Katsina State. The town has a population of 2,435. The project there became the de facto first opportunity for children to start their English language journey since there was no other place nearby to get the relevant books.

Another educational institution receiving a reading corner was Saint George's primary school in Ofatedo, Osun State. The place accommodates 249 pupils but has had no library whatsoever until now.

Both projects aim to provide a quality education that often brings much-needed development opportunities. That is why we are committed to the long-term support of charitable educational programs worldwide.
